Leganto Library reading lists

A guide for course instructors on using reading lists

Add items

To add items held by the ANU Library, including books, e-books, DVDs, and other entire items, follow the process outlined below.

  1. While in your list, click on ADD ITEMS + and select Library Search.
  2. Type in the name of the resource you are interested in. Set the box to Search Everything.
  3. Scroll through the results until you find the citation you want.
  4. Select the entry, then click on ADD or drag/drop the entry into your list. You could also click ADD & EDIT to choose when to display the materials or pick a chapter for digitisation (only for print resources).

Tips:

  • Full text online items are most readily available for your students. You can filter your search results to include only these by selecting Held by Library and Full Text Online (under Availability).
  • To narrow your results, click on Advanced Search.
  • To find e-books, select E – Electronic under Available in format(s). These provide the best access.
  • To find print books, select P – Physical under Available in format(s).

Add journal articles

Tips:

  • To narrow your results, click on Advanced Search. Search using the primary article title and one of the authors’ surnames.
  • Do not search by DOI, as Leganto struggles to find articles this way. In the first instance, look for Full text and Open Access.
  • E-journal articles and books in the general collection which do not need to be processed by the Library will have the status Complete and show as available for students to access as soon as you publish your list.

Interact with students and Library staff

Click on the title of the added Citation to interact with students and Library staff and add notes.

A. Edit the item's details, copy it to your personal Collection, and create a link to share with your students and other course convenors.

B. Add tags for the information of Students and Library Staff. Tags with a mortarboard are visible to students.

Tags

C. Report a link as broken, so the Library staff can fix it. Hide the link if necessary. It is good practice to test links to resources on your List.

D. Add notes that are visible to students, or only for your own information.
