Using Primo

A guide to using the ANU Library search and discovery platform

Suggesting a Library purchase

The ANU Library is happy to consider recommendations to purchase resources for our collections. You can send any of your suggestions via the Purchase Request form in Primo.

However, in line with the recommendations of the Non-Salary taskforce, the Library is reducing its collection spending. The Monograph (Book) Purchasing 2025 principles have been developed to meet these recommendations and will guide purchasing decisions in 2025.

Requested materials must align with the Library Collection Development policyand meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Teaching Support: The material is required or recommended for a current course

    • Note for undergraduate students: Please contact your lecturer to request teaching materials.

  • Research Support: The material fulfils a current research need

You will find the form by clicking on the ellipsis at the top of the Primo search page.

The menu will display all options - select Purchase Request to open a form.

Make sure you are logged in and then fill in the form with as many details as you can - this will help library staff find purchasing options, and make decisions on whether the acquisition will proceed.

FOR TEACHING STAFF: If you are an academic or teaching a course please add details about the number of students taking the course (this will determine how many copies or user license the library should purchase), the course code, and tick the box indicating if it will be required for Course Reserve.

FOR RESEARCHERS: Please add details about your needs to the 'Current research need' to help guide library staff with selecting the best option for providing access to the requested resource.

Remember to check the Library Catalogue before making a Purchase Request as it may already be in the ANU Library collection.
