Data can be deposited in one or more data repositories. It is not uncommon for the repository to only include the metadata for the data with directions for how to request access to the data (frequently the request must be made directly to the researcher responsible for the data).

• Research Data Australia (RDA) - primary discovery service for Australian research data.

• Australian Data Archive (ADA) - national service for the collection and preservation of digital research data.

• Australian Government data (data.gov.au) - find, access and reuse Australian Government public data. 
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Data Archive (ATSIDA) - Australian Indigenous research data.
• Australian Ocean Data Network (AODN) - open access to ocean data.
• CSIRO Data Access Portal - provides access to research data, software and other digital assets across a range of disciplines.
• PARADISEC - Pacific and Regional Archive for Digital Sources in Endangered Cultures.
