Groups are a way to organise your references. They can be useful if you want to organise references by subject (eg “mining”) or function (eg “Chapter 1”). References can be added to more than one group.
The default group for your EndNote library is “All References”. Any references without a group also appear in the “Unfiled” group. You can create up to 500 groups in each EndNote library References can appear in multiple groups.
Creating a new group;
There may be limits with the number of records you can export in a single download. Should your search be more than those limits, you can chunk the export by year.
Limits of numbers of records that can be exported from a selection of commonly used bibliographic databases for literature/systematic reviews in one export are below;
Scopus | ProQuest | Web of Science | PubMed | APA PsycInfo/Medline | |
No. of records in a single export | 1,200 | 20,000 | 1,000 | 10,000 | 1,000 |
Please refer to the EndNote for Science (databases) pdf below for further information on exporting records to EndNote.
Deduplicating your library;
You will likely import more than one copy of the same reference when you are searching across several differnt publisher platforms. EndNote can remove the extra copies for you.
Go to the Library menu and choose Find Duplicates. Choose which record to keep, Keep This Record. Once the duplicates are identified, you can delete them using References > Move References to Trash.
You can now upload your deduplicated library to Covidence. Please refer to the Covidence tab for instructions on how to do this.
