An Italian television series based on the novel of the same name by the judge Giancarlo De Cataldo. The series is an adaptation of the film Romanzo Criminale (2005) directed by Michele Placido. Partially based on the story of the Banda della Magliana, a criminal organization active in Rome in the late 1970s until the early 1990s. Most of the characters use the Romanesco dialect.
Inspired by the poem by Ludovico Ariosto (1474-1533). Accompanying book entitled: L'Orlando furioso di Luca Ronconi, by Claudio Longhi. The action takes place against the background of the war between Charlemagne's Christian paladins and the Saracen army that is attempting to invade Europe. Many themes are interwoven in the complicated structure, but the most important plot is the paladin Orlando's unrequited love for the pagan princess Angelica.
Peter Greenaway's collaboration with the artist Tom Phillips transforms one of the greatest and best known works of art, Dante's 600 year old Inferno, into a post-modern television piece. Utilizing radical new visual techniques, Greenaway and Phillips illustrate and illuminate Dante's text with dazzling imagery and a soundtrack that comments, counterpoints and clarifies. There are visual footnotes delivered by relevant authorities, and these often perform the function of narration as well as explanation. The result is a multilayered video journey through Dante's vision of the underworld, or hell.
Based on the book by Albino Bernardini. A young teacher practices the ideals preached by others by reaching out to students in a tough neighbourhood. Originally aired on RaiUno on Feb. 11-Mar. 4, 1973 in four episodes.
