From the Introduction: This book is about how technoscientific drawings create coasts. It dwells on the lives of these images from Mumbai and in it, I follow surveyors, fishing communities, planners, amateur meteorologists, marine life advocates, and their visual projects. The book’s ethnographic encounters and visual analyses show how drawings transform the coast into an object of management, infrastructure, fisheries, an urban edge, and an ecology.
