What is an e-book and how do I find them?

Electronic books (e-books) are digital versions of books. These are designed to be read on a computer, tablet, or phone screen.

There are a number of different ways that you can find e-books from the ANU Library collection:

  • search the ANU Library Catalogue
    • e-books will be indicated as 'Available online'.
    • you can perform an advanced catalogue search, and limit your results to 'Available online' under the Availability drop down in the left hand menu.
  • search via SuperSearch
    • e-books will be indicated as 'Available online'.
    • you can perform an advanced catalogue search, and limit your results to 'Available online' under the Availability drop down in the left hand menu.
  • browse e-book collections in the list of e-resources & databases

How do I access an e-book?

When searching in the Catalogue - click on the title of an e-book to display the full record. Under View Online, there will be links to access the actual text of the e-book.

ANU Press

ANU Press is a globally recognised leader in open-access academic publishing. They produce fully peer-reviewed monographs and journals across a wide range of subject areas, with a special focus on Australian and international policy, Indigenous studies and the Asia-Pacific region.

To date, ANU Press has published over 1,000 publications, all of which are freely available on their website.

You can also browse the Open Research Repository to view a digital reproduction of ANU Press works from 1965 to 1991. This collection aims to expose this valuable resource to a whole new audience in an online world.
