Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies

Important notice about resource links

The ANU Library has recently transitioned to a new search and discovery system. This means that the links to the resources outlined in this guide will need to be updated, so they direct you to the record in the new system. If you come across a resource with a broken link, you can access the item by searching for the title or author in our Catalogue or SuperSearch.

If you have any questions or need support, please get in touch.

Thank you for reading our subject guides. We hope they are helpful to your studies and research.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners and Elders past and present of all the lands on which The Australian National University operates.

Materials, or links to materials herein, may contain the voices and/or images of deceased Indigenous persons. These are included with respect, and, if possible, the permission of the deceased person/s family and community, and/or are in the public domain. Materials may also contain language and/or perspectives deemed culturally insensitive by contemporary standards.

This online guide provides a broad and general introduction to the scholarly resources available at the ANU Library for staff, students, and other members of the ANU community seeking information about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, and cultures. It also contains links to popular Indigenous materials, publicly available on the Internet.

The Library's Indigenous Collections support the learning, teaching, and research activities of staff and students in Indigenous Studies programs, and the available resources cover a broad range of subjects and issues. Examples of these include traditional law, art, music, storytelling, anthropology, archaeology, history, linguistics, health, land management, governance, land rights, indigenous knowledges, and cultural heritage.

Use the tabs on the left-hand side of the screen to navigate the various sections of the guide, and explore the wealth of diverse information sources and tools assembled here.
