EndNote X9

Get Started

As of 13/14 February 2021, EndNote software has been upgraded from version X9 to version 20 across the ANU Library Information Commons (IC) computers.

ANU-licensed EndNote 20 software for both PC and Mac is now available for download and installation on personal machines, via the Library Catalogue (search using keyword endnote).

This how-to guide will be updated progressively throughout Semester I. In the meantime, comprehensive EndNote 20 training materials and videos may be accessed via Clarivate (Web of Science) Analytics.

EndNote X9 is a powerful reference management software application, used widely across tertiary education and academic publishing sectors worldwide. It can be used to automate and manage your research processes and sources, as well as reference your written work using an extensive selection of popular academic and publication-specific "house" writing styles.

EndNote X9 is available free-of-charge to all current students and staff of the Australian National University. It is accessible on all Library Information Commons (IC) machines, as well as on the computers of professional and academic staff, campus-wide.

If you're curious to find out more, take a look at How to Use EndNote X9 in Six Minutes for Windows or Macintosh. Then, once you have a better understanding of what EndNote X9 can do for you, work your way through the tabs on the left-hand side of this guide to explore the possibilities that await you.
