Strengths and weaknesses
There are things to consider when using altmetrics for evaluating research and tracing your impact. For example, altmetrics trace non-traditional mentions, such as on social media. These mentions may stem from experts or laypeople, may be an acknowledgement of quality, or express concerns about the quality of the work. Altmetrics count the mention, but they are not an indicator of the quality of the mentioned work.
