Italian Language and Culture

A guide to conducting research in Italian studies at ANU, including key resources and search strategies.

Reserve and short loan

The reserve and short loan collection contains high-use materials, which can be accessed in both physical and digital formats. These can include books, book chapters/sections, journal articles, and DVDs, all of which can be set aside by lecturers as part of the reading requirement for their courses. These materials are only available to ANU staff and students, and can be searched for and accessed via the Library Catalogue, or Wattle.

Two hour, or two day?

Reserve and short loan items are normally located near the information desk in each Library location. Many of these items can only be borrowed for two hours at a time, though most two hour items can also be borrowed overnight if they are borrowed within two hours of Library closing time. Two hour loan items borrowed overnight are due back by opening time on the next business day.

Two day loan items are located on the general shelves in each Library location. They must be returned by close of business on the due date. Items placed in the returns chute after the Library closes may incur a fine.

You can search for reserve & short loans materials using the Catalogue's course reserve search using either your lecturer's surname, or the course name and/or course code of the unit you're studying.

On the subsequent search results page, details for individual reserve items are displayed, which include links to resources provided in digital format.
