Databases

A library database is a large, searchable, online collection of published scholarly materials.

The ANU Library subscribes to approximately 540 scholarly databases, containing many millions of searchable items, including scholarly journal articles; newspaper articles; images; streaming videos; music; and other academic publications.

Below is a selection of databases containing Criminology resources. You can see more databases on the Library's e-resources and databases page.

Please note, the databases listed are available to ANU students and staff on and off campus. Login and password are required for remote access.

If you find a journal article not available in full text through the Library's databases or print journals, you can request it through our ArticleReach Service.

AFPD: Australian Federal Police Database
A bibliographic database produced by the Australian Federal Police Library that indexes and abstracts articles from selected Australian and overseas journals, conference papers and book chapters on policing, criminology, law enforcement and related fields. Updated quarterly, it contains articles from 1991 to the present.
CINCH: Australian Criminology Database
An index of materials covering all aspects of crime and criminal justice. Source documents include journal articles, books, book chapters, conference papers, government documents, book reviews, and theses. Subject coverage includes corrections, crime prevention, criminal law, criminology, juvenile justice, law enforcement, police and victims of crime. Statistical publications are gradually being added.
HeinOnline
A collection of law journals, treaties, reports, historical legal texts, constitutions and more. The collection has a strong focus on the United States, but also includes Australian, UK and international sources.
Judicial Information Research System
This database includes cases, legislation and statistical reference material on criminal law and sentencing in New South Wales as well as sentencing statistics and benchbooks and other information. Includes full text of judgments from NSW Court of Criminal Appeal, Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, Land and Environment Court, and Industrial Relations Commission, as well as selected High Court cases.

Lexis Advance
An extensive collection of Australian legal databases including CaseBase (a case citator), Halsbury's laws of Australia (an encyclopaedia), case law, legislation, journals and subject commentaries.
ProQuest Criminal Justice Database
Research on crime, its causes and impacts, legal and social implications, as well as litigation and crime trends.
Westlaw
A collection of full text international legal resources including both cases, legislation, journals and commentaries from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, European Union, Australia and other jurisdictions.
