Using the Law Library

Using the Library Catalogue

What is the ANU Library Catalogue?

The ANU Library Catalogue is one of the major tools you can use to find materials from the ANU Library collection which are relevant to your studies and research. Items in the Catalogue include:

  • Print and electronic books and journals
  • Maps
  • Audio-visual materials
  • Theses
  • Music Scores
  • Official Documents
  • Pamphlets

Where do I find the catalogue?

The Catalogue is accessible via the ANU Library website. You can locate it at the top of the homepage, in between the SuperSearch and Full text e-journal tabs.

How do I search the catalogue?

There are a number of ways to search the Catalogue - both simple and advanced. The default is a 'keyword search' - simply enter keywords and terms which describe the subject or topic you are researching, and click search. Alternately, you can access more specific options such as searching by Title, Subject, or Author by clicking on 'advanced catalogue search'.

For more information, read the ANU Library guide to using the Catalogue.

SuperSearch

What is SuperSearch?

SuperSearch is a portal that provides a single search across the entire library collection. It searches all kinds of resources including journals; newspapers; books and book chapters; reviews; dissertations; electronic resources; and more.

Tips for using SuperSearch can be found on our website or ask for assistance from the Information Desk in any library branch.

Note: SuperSearch is a good resource for many subjects, but because of the limited access it gives to law resources we recommend that you don’t use it for law studies. We suggest that you use law specific databases to locate legal resources.
