Search the Catalogue

The Library catalogue is your connection point to the 6.5 million items held by the ANU Library. The search tools located in the Find & Access section on the Library website will help you locate course materials and items for research. Multiple search strategies are available.

The Library's homepage lets you search through three options:

SuperSearch: Search function allows broad searching over a large section of ANU Library materials in electronic and print formats. An excellent starting point for researching established literature. SuperSearch provides a single search across the ANU Library collection including the catalogue and most databases.

Catalogue Search: Search here for materials held within the ANU Library's collections including books, e-books, films, microforms and journals. (As demonstrated in the image below, a search for Weber's classic work on the protestant work ethic.)

Full text e-journals: A complete searchable list of e-journals within the ANU Library's collections.

The Advanced Search function enables more precise research options:

Title: Search for a book by title.

Author: Search by author's name.

Author/Title: Search for a author's single title. (As demonstrated in the image below, combing sociologist Max Weber and the title  "Protestant ethic and the spirit of capitalism).

Subject: ANU Library classifies materials according to subject. Subject specific headings are taken from the Library of Congress classification system. Students and researchers are able top use these subject headings to locate materials on a specific topic quickly.

International Standard Book or Serial Number: Search by International Standard Book Number or International Standard Serial Number. The unique identification number assigned to individual published works.

Advanced Keyword: Refine search parameters to narrow a search, including by material type or location.

Course Reserve: Use a course code to locate the materials set for a course.
