Why evaluate?

Locating information, whether in print or electronic format, is only the first step in the research process. The next step is to evaluate the quality and usefulness of what you find. Using appropriate sources will help you achieve better results.

Click on the tabs to the left for strategies to help you evaluate the sources of information that you find.

We highly recommend looking at the T.R.A.A.P test as it is a clear set of guidelines for evaluating information. This helpful acronym (Timeliness, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose) allows you to evaluate information using six key areas in order to determine if a source is trustworthy and of a high quality.
