Before you can deposit metadata (and data if you wish) into the ANU Data Commons, you must complete an online form to have a login created for the ANU Data Commons system. Then follow the steps below to input your metadata.
Login to the ANU Data Commons website.
Select Login Method.
To create metadata (a description of your data) and upload your data (if you wish to upload data), select New.
Select Collection Template
Fill out the form. There are 6 fields that are mandatory. Under the General tab, you must complete Title, Collection Type and Group Affiliation. Under the Description tab, you must include a Full Description. Under the People tab, you must include a Contact Email. Under the Subject tab, please include a Fields of Research code. All other fields are optional, however please include information for as many fields as possible. The better the metadata, the better chance that people will be able to locate your data.
After you have entered your metadata, return to the ANU Data Commons Home and search for your collection by title. Depending on your access privileges, you will see a number of buttons that will enable you to edit the metadata, upload files, link to items, etc. You must be logged into the ANU Data Commons to see and use these options.
